Be a Mentor/Intern
Los Angeles Team Mentoring (LATM) is currently recruiting college students majoring in Education, Child Development, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, and other related fields for our Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 internship opportunities.
This internship gives students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in the classroom while gaining hands-on experience working directly with middle school youth. Interns will help deliver an interactive social-emotional learning curriculum to approximately 25–30 students. Each classroom will have an experienced LATM staff member and classroom teacher present to guide and support 1–2 interns, providing students with a collaborative and supported learning environment.
Through this experience, interns can develop practical skills in:
- Classroom and group facilitation
- Youth engagement and relationship-building
- Social-emotional learning and adolescent development
- Lesson preparation and curriculum implementation
- Leadership, communication, and teamwork
- Problem-solving and behavior management
- Working with students from diverse backgrounds and communities
The internship is especially beneficial for students considering careers in teaching, school counseling, psychology, social work, child development, youth development, nonprofit programming, or other helping professions. It allows students to explore potential career paths, strengthen their résumés, and gain meaningful professional experience while positively impacting young people.
