2025-2026 Reading Tutors at Waugh Chapel Elementary, Severn Elementary, and the Severn Community Center

STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School first and second grade students reading below grade level. Tutors work one-on-one with a student for an hour-long session, and we offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis. STAIR-Annapolis has a site at Four Season Elementary in Gambrills, Severn Elementary, and at the Severn Community Center-serving students from Van Bokkelen Elementary. We added a new site in Odenton at Waugh Chapel Elementary School. This site will meet on Monday and Thursday from 2:30-3:45. We are currently in need of tutors on both Monday and Thursdays at all of our Crofton sites.

We will offer a short 45 minute virtual information session, which will be an overview of the STAIR program on Monday, January 5th at 10:00 am. There will also be a required 2 -hour curriculum training following the information session that will be held on Thursday, January 8th at 10:00 am at the Severn Community Center, 1160 Reece Rd.
