    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced and fun Community Events Coordinator to organize excellent events. You will be responsible for every aspect of an event, from choosing venues to evaluating success afterwards. Our Community Events Coordinator must be well-organized and competent in vendor management. Communication skills and attention to detail are a must for this role. Add a shot of enthusiasm and passion for the job and you’ll be our ideal candidate. The goal is to organize unforgettable events that will ensure the entertainment of participants and facilitate the completion of organization objectives.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Understand requirements for each event
    • Plan event with attention to financial and time constraints
    • Book venues and schedule speakers
    • Research vendors (catering, decorators, musicians etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost
    • Negotiate with vendors to achieve the most favorable terms
    • Seek volunteers to help ensure the events responsibilities of events are accomplished
    • Manage all event operations (preparing venue, invitations etc.)
    • Do final checks at the day of the event (e.g. tables, technology) to ensure everything meets standards
    • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems
    • Evaluate event’s success and submit reports

    What You Bring to the Role

    • Must be located in the United States of America, preferably in the Chicagoland area.
    • High School Diploma
    • Excellent typing and 10-key speed and accuracy
    • Proven experience as event coordinator
    • A proven track record of organizing successful events
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Excellent vendor management skills
    • Knowledge of basic recruitment practices
    • Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
    • Well-organized with multi-tasking skills
    • Able to handle stress and remain calm
    • Problem-solving ability
    • Degree in public relations or relevant field is preferred and a plus
    • Must prioritize tasks and work independently in the absence of supervision.
    • Possess excellent crisis/conflict management skills and/or willing to learn.
    • Operate a computer to enter necessary data on the behalf of the ROY organization. (*When assigned to do so)
    • Desire to learn and grow professionally in the field of non-profit
    • Demonstrates leadership skills
    • Engaging/responsive, and proactive communication
    • Proficient in Google Suite and open to learning new tools.
    • Adaptable, collaborative, and self-motivated
    • Establish and maintain highly professional effective working relationships with senior management, and other appointed officials, including staff, community and business leaders, donors, board members, and others encountered in the course of work
    • Use a high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned groups and/or individuals
