    About Us

The Global Consortium of Political Analysts (GCPA) advances informed policymaking and promotes critical civic literacy through rigorous, collaborative, and culturally sensitive research on pressing political, security, and humanitarian challenges. By pairing local, in-country experts with internationally recognized specialists, GCPA produces nuanced, evidence-based insights that empower policymakers and enrich civic participation. Our commitment to analytical integrity and cultural sensitivity guides our multidisciplinary teams in collecting and interpreting primary-source data across diverse languages, fostering inclusive dialogue and data-driven approaches to advance cooperation, resilient societies, and responsible governance.

We strive to help shape a world where policy is driven by integrity, inclusivity, and culturally grounded analysis, enabling societies everywhere to make informed, constructive decisions and build resilient, thriving democracies.

    Role Overview

We are recruiting a cohort of Volunteer Editors with extensive editorial experience to review, feedback, and edit critical discourse analysis papers and other international political analysis pieces. This role is ideal for retired or semi-retired editorial professionals who want to remain actively engaged in international affairs and critical scholarship while contributing their skills to a global public good. As a Volunteer Editor, you will help ensure that complex, nuanced analysis is communicated with clarity, precision, and integrity to academic, policy, and broader public audiences.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and edit research manuscripts, policy briefs, and analytical essays focused on critical discourse analysis and international political issues.
    • Strengthen clarity, coherence, and argumentation while preserving the author’s voice and theoretical framework.
    • Provide constructive feedback on structure, flow, and use of evidence, including suggestions for improving framing and accessibility for diverse audiences.
    • Check for internal consistency, logical progression, and appropriate use of key concepts in CDA and international political analysis.
    • Ensure adherence to agreed editorial guidelines and citation conventions (e.g., APA, Chicago, or similar academic styles).
    • Collaborate asynchronously with an international editorial team via email and shared online platforms.
    • Where relevant, identify and flag issues related to translation accuracy, cross-cultural nuance, and audience-specific terminology for multilingual texts.
    • Occasional virtual meetings (typically 1–2 per month) for editorial coordination and calibration, scheduled with consideration for multiple time zones.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. It offers meaningful intellectual engagement, opportunities for global collaboration, and the satisfaction of supporting critical research in international politics and discourse.

    Who We Are Looking For

    Professional Experience

    • 15–20+ years of professional editorial experience in academia, journalism, international affairs, public policy, or related fields.
    • Demonstrated experience editing research papers, policy analysis, or serious non-fiction content.
    • Familiarity with academic or policy publishing practices, including peer-review and editorial workflows, is a strong asset.

    Subject Matter Interest

    • Strong interest in critical discourse analysis, political communication, international relations, or related fields such as media studies, sociology, or comparative politics.
    • Openness to engaging with theoretically rich and methodologically diverse work, including qualitative and mixed-methods research

    Language and Global Profile

    • Multilingual editors are strongly encouraged to apply.
    • Proficiency in at least two languages (one of which should be English) is preferred; additional languages are a significant advantage.
    • We especially welcome applicants with proficiency in languages such as Arabic, Mandarin, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Indonesian, Farsi, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, and Hindi, among others.
    • We are building a globally distributed team and particularly encourage editors based in the Global South, East Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America to apply.

    Personal Qualities

    • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to editorial excellence.
    • Ability to work independently, manage a self-directed schedule, and meet agreed deadlines.
    • Collegial, respectful communication style and comfort working in a fully remote, multicultural environment.
    • Enthusiasm for mentoring, constructive feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.

    What You Will Gain

    • The opportunity to stay intellectually active and deeply engaged with international affairs and critical scholarship.
    • A role in a global community of approximately 30 experienced editors and over 100 researchers.
    • Flexible, remote volunteer work that can fit around other commitments.
    • The satisfaction of supporting emerging and established scholars, especially those working across languages and from underrepresented regions.
