Help Build a Future Without Poverty

Poverty Isn’t Inevitable. Together, We Can Change It.

Every community is stronger when people have access to the basics: health care, nutritious food, safe housing, and the opportunity to build a stable future.

But those opportunities don’t happen by accident. They are shaped by decisions made in Congress.

If you’ve ever wished you could help build a future where everyone has the chance to thrive, there’s a place for you in the RESULTS community of advocates.

We’re growing a stronger network of advocates in Kansas and inviting new leaders to help bring the voices and values of their communities directly to Congress.

    Build Relationships That Influence Policy

At RESULTS, advocacy isn’t about sending one message and hoping for change. It’s about building respectful, ongoing relationships with the staff and elected officials who shape policy.

Our volunteers work together to build relationships with congressional offices, share their values, lift up community concerns, and advocate for solutions that strengthen communities. Many advocates grow into a leadership role we call a Congressional Point Person, helping coordinate communication and build an ongoing relationship with a congressional office.

You don’t need prior experience. We provide the training, support, and community to help you grow into this role.

    Issues You’ll Advocate For

RESULTS advocates work on solutions that help families meet their basic needs and build stable futures, including:

    • Protecting health and nutrition programs like SNAP and Medicaid
    • Expanding affordable housing so families can find safe and stable homes
    • Improving tax policies that support working families, including the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit
    • Strengthening U.S. leadership in global health and education, including vaccines, maternal and child health, and the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria

Develop Skills That Create Real Impact

Through hands-on advocacy, you’ll learn how to:

    • Communicate effectively with members of Congress and their staff
    • Write persuasive media that shapes public conversation
    • Speak powerfully about solutions to poverty
    • Invite others in your community to take action

    You Don’t Need Advocacy Experience

Most RESULTS advocates begin with no policy or advocacy background.

We provide training, mentorship, and a supportive community that will help you learn how to build relationships with decision-makers and advocate effectively.

Advocates interested in developing relationships with congressional offices will also receive hands-on mentoring and support from experienced RESULTS staff.

    How to Get Started

New volunteers begin with a New Advocate Orientation, followed by a short self-paced advocacy training series where you’ll learn the foundations of effective advocacy and take your first actions.

After completing the training, you’ll connect with other advocates working together to build a stronger voice for solutions to poverty in Oklahoma.

    Your Voice Matters

Members of Congress make better decisions when they hear directly from the people they represent.

If you’re ready to grow your leadership and help build a future where everyone can thrive, we’d love to connect with you.
