    Twin Cities Coordinator (Volunteer)

    Position Summary

MNeurodivergent is seeking a Twin Cities Coordinator to help lead and strengthen our presence across the Twin Cities Metro area. The Twin Cities Coordinator is a lead volunteer responsible for coordinating and representing MNeurodivergent within the metro region, while supporting a healthy and inclusive volunteer ecosystem.

This role includes supporting inclusive in-person events, interviewing and mentoring volunteers, and serving as a key communication and leadership hub. The Coordinator plays a vital role in keeping MNeurodivergent active, visible, and radically welcoming across the Twin Cities, while reporting updates and regional needs to our statewide Community Outreach Committee.

In addition, this role serves as the central coordination point for the broader Twin Cities region, supporting regional alignment and volunteer leadership across metro sub-communities.

    Regional Leadership Structure

The Twin Cities Coordinator provides regional oversight and coordination for the Twin Cities Metro community network. As the Twin Cities region grows, South, West, and North Twin Cities Metro Community Coordinators will report to this role for alignment, support, and shared communication.

    Key Responsibilities

Local Team Leadership & Volunteer Support

    • Engage and recruit volunteers for local roles that support events and community-building
    • Conduct thorough and comprehensive interviews with potential volunteers and submit interview records to the Volunteer Committee
    • Mentor and support onboarded volunteers to maintain a positive and inclusive volunteer environment
    • Host monthly meetings with Twin Cities volunteers to provide updates, delegate responsibilities, and promote collaboration
    • Support long-term stability of the community by helping identify additional leadership support when needed (ex: co-coordinators)

    Twin Cities Regional Oversight

    • Serve as the primary leadership and coordination point for the Twin Cities Metro community network
    • Support and coordinate with sub-region Community Coordinators (North, West, and South Metro)
    • Provide structure, support, and communication continuity across the metro volunteer ecosystem
    • Help ensure consistency in culture, accessibility values, and community standards across the metro region

    Events & Community Connection

    • Support inclusive in-person events such as game nights, art gatherings, coffee meetups, and park days
    • Assist with event planning support when needed, including scheduling, venues, supplies, and attendee communication
    • Help maintain consistent local activity and strong volunteer participation

    Organizational Engagement

    • Maintain consistent statewide communication by attending monthly Events Committee meetings
    • Represent Twin Cities needs and progress by providing updates on:
      • event turnout
      • volunteer engagement
      • community growth
      • local fundraising opportunities

Important Note: What This Role Does NOT Include

To reduce volunteer workload and keep roles clear, the Twin Cities Coordinator does not coordinate tabling logistics or public outreach event staffing (such as festival booth scheduling, staffing coordination, setup plans, signage logistics, etc.). Those responsibilities are handled through separate MNeurodivergent departments and tabling systems.

    Qualifications

    • Passion for creating accessible, affirming, and inclusive spaces for neurodivergent individuals
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to support volunteers and represent MNeurodivergent’s values
    • Experience in event planning, volunteer leadership, or community building is preferred but not required
    • Must be based in or consistently present in the Twin Cities Metro area

    Time Commitment

    • Estimated 6–12 hours per week, depending on seasonal activity and community needs
    • Includes interviews, local volunteer meetings, event support, and monthly statewide committee meetings
    • Some evening or weekend availability required

    Benefits of Volunteering

    • Help reduce isolation and build empowering peer-led community for neurodivergent adults in the Twin Cities
    • Gain leadership experience in community coordination and volunteer mentorship
    • Become a key leader in MNeurodivergent’s statewide network
    • Receive support from the Community Outreach Committee, Board Liaisons, and peer Coordinators
    • Create lasting local impact through radically inclusive and affirming community-building
