Support Service to the Armed Forces with the American Red Cross

Are you a licensed healthcare professional looking for a meaningful way to give back? The American Red Cross is seeking Military Hospital Professional Volunteers to support service members, veterans, and their families in Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and clinics across the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region.

Commitment:

• 5–10 hours per week

Who We’re Looking For:

Licensed or credentialed healthcare professionals, including:

• Physicians, Nurses (RN/LPN), Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nursing Assistants
• Dentists, Physical Therapists, Veterinarians
• EMTs, Phlebotomists, Lab, Radiology, and Pharmacy Technicians
• Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Mental Health Professionals

What You’ll Do:

• Provide care and support to patients under the supervision of medical staff
• Perform duties aligned with your license and training (examples include: greeting/screening patients, answering questions, taking vitals, transporting specimens, assisting with patient transport, performing diagnostic tests, venipunctures/IVs, EKGs, dispensing/restocking medications, etc.)
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality (HIPAA), and ethical standards of care
• Contribute to the wellbeing of military members, veterans, and their families

Requirements:

• Age 18+
• Background check required
• Active and valid professional license, credentials, or certification (per MTF policy)
• No driver’s license required
