Handy Man or Woman for Seniors in McHenry County

Join our team of friendly volunteers at the Senior Care Volunteer Network, where we assist local seniors in need with minor home repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work. Some tasks can be as simple as hanging pictures, changing a light bulb in a ceiling fixture, furnace filter, or replacing batteries in a smoke detector. Our mission is to preserve the independence, dignity, and quality of life for seniors in McHenry County who are living at home or with loved ones. The gift of a minor home repair can make a significant difference in their lives. Volunteers log into our database and select the assignments they wish to complete, and coordinate a date and time with the Senior.

Interested candidates should apply and must attend a volunteer orientation, which includes a criminal background check. Volunteers are responsible for providing their own tools and transportation to and from the job site, while homeowners are responsible for supplying any necessary materials.
