Impactful Weekend Opportunity with Mileage/Stipend Support

🛠️ Role Summary

Are you looking for a way to give back to the DC community while getting out on the road? We are seeking dedicated volunteer drivers to help us rescue high-quality surplus food and deliver it to those in need. To support our volunteers, we offer a stipend or mileage reimbursement (details discussed during onboarding) to ensure your contribution to our mission is sustainable for you.

You will operate our organization’s van to collect fresh produce, bakery items, and frozen goods from partner grocery stores and farmers' markets, ensuring this food feeds families instead of landfills.

Key Responsibilities

• Scheduled Pickups: Arrive punctually at assigned partner locations (grocery stores and markets) in the DC Metro area.
• Safe Loading: Verify food inventory and safely load boxes/containers into the organization's van.
• Efficient Transport: Deliver collected food immediately to our central storage or distribution site.
• Documentation: Maintain simple logs of donation quantities and mileage for our impact records.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Documentation: Must possess a valid Driver’s License, a clean driving record, and current personal auto insurance (required for all volunteer drivers).
• Physical Strength: Ability to safely lift and maneuver boxes weighing 30–50 lbs. (Assistance is often available at pickup/drop-off).
• Reliability: Highly dependable with a commitment to maintaining your weekend slot.
• Flexible Shifts (you do not need to be available for all windows.) Here are available shift(s) :
  • Sundays: 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Mondays: 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Fridays: 9:00 am - 1:00 PM
  • Saturdays: 9:30 AM – 11:30 PM
