Community Outreach Lead - Black Historic Cemetery Preservation

Are you passionate about preserving Black history and skilled at connecting with the community? We need your voice!

Cobb Bethel AME Church, founded in 1863, is home to one of Atlanta’s oldest African American cemeteries-a sacred space that holds generations of Black legacy and landownership. As we work to preserve and honor this historic site, we’re seeking a Community Outreach Lead to help raise public awareness and build community support.

In this role, you will:

• Spread awareness of the preservation project across Atlanta and surrounding communities
• Build relationships with libraries, local businesses, cultural centers, neighborhood groups, and city agencies
• Represent the organization at public events, tabling opportunities, and community meetings
• Distribute flyers or materials in local gathering spaces and community hubs
• Coordinate with other volunteers to help raise visibility through word-of-mouth and presence
• Share community feedback and new outreach opportunities with the project team
