Mission
We are a healing-centered transitional home supporting women impacted by domestic violence, sexual exploitation, incarceration, homelessness, and trauma. Our goal is to empower each woman to reclaim her life through safety, dignity, and purpose.
Role Summary
The Volunteer Case Manager will provide one-on-one counseling and life planning support to residents. This role is ideal for someone with a heart for justice, trauma-informed care, and personal transformation. You’ll walk alongside women as they set goals, rebuild trust, and take steps toward independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, confidential one-on-one counseling sessions
- Collaborate with residents to develop individualized life plans, including short- and long-term goals
- Support residents in accessing resources (housing, employment, education, legal aid, healthcare)
- Maintain accurate case notes and progress reports
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to holistic care planning
- Advocate for residents’ needs within the program and with external partners
- Uphold trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practices
Required Training & Support
All volunteer case managers will receive foundational training in:
- Trauma-Informed Care: Understanding the impact of trauma on behavior, trust, and healing
- Personality & Character Dynamics: Navigating diverse emotional responses, communication styles, and coping mechanisms
- Trigger Awareness & De-escalation: Recognizing signs of emotional distress and responding with empathy and grounding techniques
- Boundary Setting: Establishing healthy, respectful boundaries that protect both resident and case manager’s well-being
- Self-Care & Resilience: Tools for emotional regulation, reflection, and recovery when facing secondary trauma or burnout
Ongoing support includes peer check-ins, reflective supervision, and access to wellness resources.
Qualifications
- Background in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field (students or retired professionals welcome)
- Experience working with survivors of trauma, violence, or marginalization preferred
- Strong interpersonal, listening, and boundary-setting skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Bilingual skills a plus (especially Spanish, Tagalog, or Mandarin)
