Join the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team and play a vital role in disaster response efforts across Pennsylvania. As a volunteer, you will provide immediate assistance and relief to individuals and families affected by emergencies, offering critical support when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Disaster Response: Deploy to disaster scenes to assess and assist those impacted.
- Client Support: Conduct interviews with individuals and families to identify and address their urgent needs.
- Shelter & Relief Operations: Help set up and operate shelters, distribute relief supplies, and organize mass feeding efforts.
- Ongoing Training: Participate in regular training sessions to prepare for response efforts.
- Technology Utilization: Effectively use smartphone apps and desktop software for case management and coordination.
On-Call Activation: When a disaster occurs during your assigned shift, the Red Cross Emergency Communications Center (Bridge) will call you to confirm your availability to respond.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-stress situations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow response protocols
- Flexible availability and willingness to deploy on short notice
- Comfortable using technology for communication and coordination
