    About SurvivingBreastCancer.org

SurvivingBreastCancer.org (SBC) is a national nonprofit organization transforming how people experience breast cancer. We empower individuals and families through trusted education, meaningful community, whole-person wellness, and practical support from diagnosis through every stage of life with breast cancer.

Our growing educational library includes more than 1,000 webinars and community conversations, patient stories, expert interviews, and practical resources designed to help people better understand breast cancer and navigate life beyond the clinic.

We are seeking a creative, organized, and digitally savvy volunteer to help us expand the reach and impact of this content through YouTube.

    Position Summary

The YouTube & Digital Education Manager will help grow SurvivingBreastCancer.org’s educational video library into a highly trusted and discoverable resource for people affected by breast cancer.

This role combines video editing, content publishing, YouTube optimization, audience development and engagement. The ideal volunteer understands that successful YouTube content requires more than uploading a video. It requires thoughtful packaging, compelling titles and thumbnails, strong opening moments, organized playlists, consistent publishing, and ongoing analysis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student, recent graduate, early-career professional, or experienced volunteer interested in video production, digital media, healthcare communications, nonprofit marketing, public health, journalism, or YouTube strategy.

The right person will be able to build a meaningful portfolio while helping thousands of people access credible, compassionate breast cancer education.

    Your Mission

Increase the reach, discoverability, watch time, and educational impact of SurvivingBreastCancer.org’s YouTube content.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Video Editing and Production

    • Edit full-length podcast episodes, webinars, patient stories, and educational videos for YouTube
    • For every long-form podcast, webinar, interview, or educational video, identify and create at least 3–5 additional content assets, such as YouTube Shorts, social clips, quote graphics, teaser videos, or other reusable digital content.
    • Improve pacing, transitions, audio quality, framing, and overall viewer experience
    • Add branded introductions, closing screens, lower thirds, speaker names, captions, and calls to action
    • Remove unnecessary pauses, technical interruptions, or repetitive content while preserving the integrity of each conversation
    • Identify strong moments from long-form videos that can be repurposed into shorter content
    • Ensure videos meet SBC’s quality, accessibility, and brand standards

    YouTube Publishing and Optimization

    • Upload and schedule podcasts, webinars, interviews, and educational videos
    • Write clear, compelling, and search-informed video titles
    • Develop detailed descriptions that accurately summarize each video and direct viewers to relevant SBC resources
    • Add chapters, tags, keywords, links, end screens, cards, and calls to action
    • Select appropriate categories and publishing settings
    • Review captions for accuracy, especially for medical terminology, medication names, and speaker names
    • Maintain a consistent publishing workflow and content calendar

    YouTube Shorts and Content Repurposing

    • Identify engaging, educational, or emotionally meaningful moments from longer videos
    • Create short-form vertical videos for YouTube Shorts
    • Add captions, hooks, on-screen text, and calls to action
    • Adapt clips so they can potentially be shared across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, or other SBC channels
    • Maintain a searchable system for organizing clips and reusable video assets

    Playlist and Content Library Management

    • Organize videos into intuitive, audience-centered playlists
    • Review older videos and recommend opportunities to update titles, descriptions, thumbnails, chapters, and playlist placement
    • Help ensure viewers can easily find the next relevant video in their educational journey

    YouTube Growth and Analytics

    • Monitor views, subscribers, click-through rates, audience retention, watch time, traffic sources, and other channel metrics
    • Identify which topics, titles, thumbnails, video lengths, and formats perform most effectively
    • Recommend practical improvements based on audience behavior
    • Track progress through a simple monthly dashboard or report
    • Identify high-performing older content that could be refreshed or repurposed
    • Help test new approaches to improve discoverability and viewer engagement

    Digital Education Strategy

    • Help transform SBC’s existing library into a more cohesive digital education experience
    • Recommend content series, playlist structures, recurring formats, and opportunities for repurposing
    • Identify gaps in the existing video library based on search behavior and audience needs
    • Collaborate with SBC’s marketing, podcast, and program teams to prioritize upcoming content
    • Ensure video content remains compassionate, accurate, audience-centered, and consistent with SBC’s mission

    Who You Are

You may be a strong fit for this role if you:

    • Understand how titles, thumbnails, hooks, pacing, and audience retention influence YouTube performance
    • Are comfortable working independently and meeting recurring deadlines
    • Are highly organized and able to manage multiple videos at different stages of production
    • Pay close attention to details, including names, captions, links, formatting, and medical terminology
    • Are willing to learn about breast cancer topics and communicate them with care and accuracy
    • Can receive feedback and revise work efficiently
    • Are interested in using technology and AI tools thoughtfully to improve creative workflows
