Podcast Producer (Volunteer)

Location: Remote (Bay Area, CA preferred)

Commitment: 8-10 hours/week (Flexible schedule)

About the Role:

Rcoz is seeking an organized and passionate Podcast Producer to help launch and run our mental health podcast. In this role, you will oversee the audio end of our show—managing episode workflows, guest coordination, RSS distribution (Spotify, Apple Podcasts), and technical quality. You will work closely with our Video Editor & YouTube Manager to ensure seamless cross-platform releases that amplify mental health awareness across our community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Show Operations & Logistics:
  • Manage the podcast production calendar and keep episode releases on schedule.
  • Coordinate with guest speakers, handling outreach, scheduling, and pre-interview briefings.
  • Write engaging episode titles, show notes, key takeaways, and guest bios for each release.
• Audio Engineering & Distribution:
  • Clean, edit, and master raw audio recordings (balancing levels, removing background noise, filler words, and awkward pauses).
  • Add intro/outro music, sponsor or community messaging, and audio ads/announcements.
  • Manage RSS feed hosting platforms (e.g., Spotify for Podcasters, Buzzsprout, Podbean) to distribute episodes smoothly across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music.
• Collaboration & Cross-Promotion:
  • Partner with our Video Editor to share raw video/audio files for video podcasts and promotional highlight clips.
  • Ensure audio metadata, transcripts, and episode descriptions are accurate for search visibility and accessibility.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience with audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Descript, GarageBand, Adobe Audition, or Logic Pro).
• Understands major podcast hosting platforms and RSS feed management.
• Possesses strong written communication skills for crafting compelling show notes and guest correspondence.
• Is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines independently.
• Is passionate about mental health advocacy and community storytelling.

Qualifications:

• Self-starter comfortable driving an episode from raw recording to final publication.
• Experience launching or producing an audio podcast is strongly preferred.
• Bay Area location is a plus for occasional in-person community events or team touchpoints.
• References required prior to onboarding.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Descript or AI-assisted audio workflow tools.
• Familiarity with transcription tools and optimizing show notes for search visibility (SEO/GEO).
