Executive Leadership Team, Volunteer Leadership Position

    Remote, Flexible Scheduling (10-25 hours/week)

    About The ImpactKits Project

The ImpactKits Project is a student-led community service initiative working to make compassion actionable. We bring together volunteers, businesses, and community organizations to collect essential supplies, assemble care kits, and support individuals and families facing hardship.

    Position Overview

The Director of Community Impact & Partnerships is responsible for finding partners, contacting them, developing relationships, and turning conversations into real opportunities for community impact.

This is an active, externally facing leadership role. The Director will personally conduct outreach through phone calls and emails, speak with prospective partners, explain how they can work with ImpactKits, follow up on opportunities, and coordinate partnerships from initial contact through implementation. They will also lead department volunteers and ensure outreach efforts are organized, consistent, and productive.

This role is best suited to someone who enjoys communicating with people, takes initiative, follows through on commitments, and can represent an organization professionally.

    Key Responsibilities

    Conduct Outreach and Secure Partnerships

    • Research and identify prospective partners, including nonprofits, shelters, schools, businesses, community organizations, and companies interested in community service.
    • Personally contact prospective partners through phone calls and professional emails.
    • Introduce ImpactKits, explain our work, and present specific opportunities for collaboration.
    • Follow up with contacts who have not responded, answer questions, arrange meetings, and keep conversations moving forward.
    • Develop relationships with organizations interested in receiving kits, donating supplies, hosting collection drives, or organizing employee kit-packing events.
    • Maintain a pipeline of prospective and active partners, documenting contact details, communication history, next steps, and outcomes.
    • Work toward establishing active, sustainable partnerships rather than simply generating lists of contacts or sending outreach messages.

Manage Partnerships From Start to Finish

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned partners.
    • Understand each partner's needs, interests, capacity, and expectations before proposing a collaboration.
    • Coordinate agreed-upon activities, including donation drives, corporate volunteer events, supply collection, and kit distribution.
    • Work with internal departments to confirm available supplies, volunteer capacity, timelines, and logistics before making commitments.
    • Keep partners informed, resolve communication issues, and follow up after activities to gather feedback and identify future opportunities.
    • Maintain relationships over time to encourage repeat collaborations and long-term community support.

Lead the Community Impact & Partnerships Department

    • Organize the department's work, establish priorities, and assign outreach and coordination responsibilities to volunteers.
    • Guide volunteers in researching partners, preparing communications, maintaining records, and following up on opportunities.
    • Set clear expectations and deadlines, monitor progress, and address tasks that are falling behind.
    • Provide feedback and support to help volunteers communicate professionally and work effectively.
    • Develop reusable outreach templates, contact-tracking systems, and procedures to improve consistency.
    • Report regularly to the Executive Leadership on outreach activity, partnership progress, completed collaborations, challenges, upcoming opportunities.
    • Serve on the Executive Leadersgip Team and help lead the organization

    Represent ImpactKits Professionally

    • Communicate clearly and confidently with business representatives, nonprofit staff, school personnel, and other external stakeholders.
    • Organize information and present ideas in a concise, persuasive, and professional manner.
    • Use sound judgment when discussing organizational capabilities, making commitments, or handling confidential information.
    • Coordinate with other departments, particularly Development & Fundraising and Digital Media & PR, when partnerships involve fundraising, sponsorships, publicity, or joint events.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with people from different backgrounds.
    • Willingness and confidence to make phone calls, send professional emails, and initiate conversations with people who may not be familiar with ImpactKits.
    • Strong organization, time management, and follow-through.
    • Reliability, integrity, accountability, and good professional judgment.
    • Ability to lead volunteers, delegate responsibilities, and hold a team accountable to agreed-upon goals.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple conversations and deadlines, and take initiative in a remote environment.
    • Willingness to learn and use the organization's systems and procedures.

Previous experience in outreach, partnerships, customer relations, nonprofit work, public relations, or team leadership is helpful. Relevant experience is valued, but candidates must demonstrate the communication skills, initiative, and reliability necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the role.

    Required Technical Skills and Systems

The Director must be willing and able to work with the following organizational platforms:

    • Google Workspace: Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and related collaboration tools for documentation, planning, and coordination.
    • Microsoft Entra: Organizational account access and identity management.
    • 3CX: The organization's phone system for conducting and managing external calls.
    • EMail: Organizational email for professional outreach and partner correspondence.

Candidates do not need to be experts in every platform before starting, but they must be comfortable learning and using these systems as part of their regular responsibilities.

    Time Commitment & Work Environment

This is a fully remote volunteer leadership position requiring 15-20 hours per week. The schedule is flexible, but the Director must maintain consistent progress, respond to communications promptly, participate in relevant meetings, and follow through on commitments.

Because the position involves external relationship-building, candidates must be comfortable speaking directly with prospective partners by phone and communicating professionally by email. The role requires proactive outreach and ongoing relationship management, not solely internal planning or administrative work.

    Success & Evaluation

The Director will be evaluated on the effectiveness of their work, including:

    • Consistency and quality of phone and email outreach.
    • Progress in moving prospective partners from initial contact to meaningful collaboration.
    • Number and quality of active partnerships, considered in the context of partner fit and organizational capacity.
    • Reliability in maintaining partner relationships and fulfilling commitments.
    • Successful coordination of collection drives, kit-packing events, and distribution opportunities.
    • Department organization, volunteer engagement, and follow-through on assigned responsibilities.
    • Accuracy of records and clarity of updates to Leadership.

Simply sending a high volume of emails will not constitute success. The expectation is to build genuine relationships and create practical opportunities that advance ImpactKits' mission.

    What You'll Gain

This role offers hands-on experience in partnership development, professional communication, community engagement, and volunteer leadership. The Director will have the opportunity to shape how ImpactKits works with external organizations and help turn community interest into tangible support for people experiencing hardship.

    Application & Interview Process

Candidates must complete the online application and participate in a required, quick 15-30m video interview as part of the selection process. The interview will assess communication skills, professionalism, reliability, leadership ability, and readiness to conduct external outreach.

Because this is a director-level position with significant responsibility for external relationships, applicants should be prepared to discuss how they would approach contacting prospective partners, handling follow-ups, developing long-term relationships, and leading a team of volunteers.

The ImpactKits Project is committed to equal opportunity and providing an inclusive volunteer environment.
