Teach English/ESL and help a refugee learn a new language!

Bridge Refugee Services is searching for committed volunteers who love working with people and are interested in helping a newcomer start or continue learning English.

As a refugee resettlement agency, Bridge helps refugees start a new life in the United States. English/ESL volunteers are a wonderful one-on-one resource for newcomers as they begin this journey.

Being able to speak English is crucial for refugees as they start their first job and learn about their new community.

Even if you have never taught English, this is a great opportunity to work with an individual or family as they improve their English skills. Bridge will provide a complete online ELL curriculum with placement testing, lesson plans, easy-to-navigate online lessons, teaching tools, activities and games, worksheets, and independent student work. We will also provide or facilitate any training or support you might need, to see our students succeed in this program.

Volunteer Requirements:

• Complete our Bridge Volunteer Paperwork
• Attend a Bridge Volunteer Orientation (about 1hr via Zoom)
• Background check through Sterling Volunteers ($17.50 per person paid to Sterling Volunteers)

Foreign language skills or experience working with refugee populations not required.
