An orphanage and non-profit primary school in Uganda is having volunteer opportunities for people from English speaking cultures to teach English as a second language to our children between the age of 6 to 11 years old. The volunteer will be working with our local teachers in delivering lessons to students, preparing classroom materials, participating in lesson planning, potentially leading some classes, grading assignments, providing student support, and actively engaging in school activities.
Key responsibilities may include:
Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop engaging lesson plans, create instructional materials like handouts, presentations, and activities tailored to different learning styles.
Deliver English language lessons under the guidance of the supervising teacher, incorporating various teaching methods to enhance student comprehension.
Grade assignments, provide constructive feedback to students on their grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and writing skills.
Offer additional assistance to students who require extra help with specific English concepts.
Maintain a positive learning environment by actively engaging students, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
Observe experienced teachers in action, reflect on teaching strategies, and identify areas for personal growth.
May include maintaining student records, preparing class rosters, and assisting with administrative duties as needed.

AGE QUALIFICATION
You must be above 18 years old.
VOLUNTEER DURATION
You can volunteer for two weeks, one month, two months, three months, four months, five months or six months.
ACCOMMODATION
You will be given accommodation and three meals a day during during working time.
WORKING TIME
You will be working 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You will be having weekends to see the country and see life in Kampala the capital city of Uganda.
COMMUNICATION TO FAMILIES
At work you will be having access to free WiFi internet and you can use it to share your experience with your family and friends back in your home country.
