Beacon Hospice provides compassionate end-of-life care to patients and families throughout our community. Our mission is to bring comfort, dignity, and peace to every person we serve, and our volunteers are the heart of that mission.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We welcome caring individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Whether you have a special talent or simply a kind heart, there are many ways to serve:

💜 Companionship & Support

• Reading to a patient or holding a hand
• Staying with a patient while family members take a needed break
• Listening and offering comfort
• Helping patients write or tell their life stories
• Shopping or running light errands
• Assisting with light household chores

🎨 Creative & Therapeutic Activities

• Leading or assisting with art classes at nursing homes
• Sharing your musical talents: singing, playing an instrument, or bringing the joy of music
• Working on crafts or other creative projects with patients

💇‍♀️ Personal Care & Expression

• Helping patients feel their best by offering haircuts, grooming, or makeup assistance
• Licensed or experienced hair stylists and barbers especially welcome

🐶 Pet Therapy Teams

• Certified therapy animals bring comfort, happiness, and companionship to patients and families

🎖️ Veteran Volunteers

• Veterans are especially needed to honor and support fellow veterans, share stories, attend recognition ceremonies, or visit bedside

🗂️ Office & Clerical Support

• Help our hospice team with filing, mailings, phone calls, and special projects

Who We Serve:

We care for patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their families, offering emotional, spiritual, and practical support. Every volunteer visit, smile, and gesture of kindness brings peace and connection to those we serve.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Background check and training provided by Beacon Hospice
• Pet therapy volunteers must have certified therapy animals
