Description: Make a lasting difference in a child’s life!

Join the Muindi Foundation’s Learn Now program as a volunteer tutor and help under-resourced elementary and junior high students (1st-8th grade) strengthen their skills in language arts and mathematics. Most of our students come from low-income backgrounds, and many are English language learners. Your presence and encouragement can help shift the trajectory of a child’s academic journey.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring
    • Support students in reading comprehension, writing, and foundational math
    • Create a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment
    • Help students build confidence, develop strong study habits, and pursue their academic goals

    When & Where:

    • Fall 2025: September 15, 2025 - November 20, 2025
    • Days: Monday-Thursday
    • Time: 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM
    • Location: Muindi Foundation
    • 1040 Park Avenue, Suite 200D (upstairs)
    • San Jose, CA 95126

    Time Commitment:

We ask volunteers to commit to at least two afternoons per week (3:00-5:30 PM) for a minimum of 10 weeks. This strikes a great balance between volunteer availability and student consistency, which is vital for academic growth and building trust.

    Qualifications:

    • Passion for education, equity, and student success
    • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
    • Must pass a background check
    • University Students in good standing (GPA 3.0+)
    • High school seniors (GPA 3.5+)

    For High School Seniors:

    • Verified community service hours provided
    • Mentorship experience ideal for college applications
