Weekends can be a nice time to offer your time to our patients and their families. If in a facility, that is when facility staffing drops to the minimum, so increased volunteer visits can ward off feelings of loneliness. In a private home, that is when a family member caring for a loved one could have opportunities to see grandchildren's sporting games or other family gatherings, that they would otherwise miss without having your support by staying with the patient.
Facility visits can be about an hour (per patient) but private home visits would be about 3 hours.
If you are looking for a place to do good, please consider Vitality Hospice.
Though our agency covers a large area in New Jersey and PA, volunteers only go where they are comfortable going to. Vitality Hospice has three offices, but the volunteering is done where the patients are, which is throughout our service area, in nursing facilities and private homes; again, as a volunteer, you will tell us which setting is more comfortable for you.
If you are interested in this post, please reply, sending an email to the Volunteer Coordinator: SBallas@VitalityHospice.com . When you do, you will be sent detailed information about the onboarding process, so you can make an informed decision about getting involved. Once you indicate that you accept what is needed, you will be sent our Application, which is the official start to onboarding.
