    About GeneralGiist

GeneralGiist is a global discussion forum built for real conversations, diverse interests, and authentic connections. Our goal is to create a place where people can visit, discover interesting topics, express their opinions, connect with others, be heard, and have fun.

We are building our founding community and looking for motivated volunteers who want to help grow GeneralGiist, make discussions more engaging, and give people reasons to return.

    About the Opportunity

As a Founding Community Growth Builder, you will help attract new users, encourage participation, create engaging discussions, and build a welcoming community around GeneralGiist.

You will contribute to the early development of the platform by helping people discover relevant conversations, encouraging new members to participate, and experimenting with practical ways to increase genuine community activity.

This opportunity is suitable for people interested in online communities, digital outreach, content creation, community engagement, social media, or startup growth.

You do not need to be an expert. We value initiative, creativity, reliability, and a genuine interest in building an active online community.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Community Outreach and Growth
    • Introduce GeneralGiist to people who may enjoy its discussions and community.
    • Identify appropriate online communities, forums, and networks where relevant conversations take place.
    • Share interesting GeneralGiist discussions where promotion is permitted and appropriate.
    • Encourage genuine registrations and participation without spamming or sending unsolicited mass messages.
    • Experiment with different approaches to community growth and report what works.
    1. Conversation Creation
    • Start interesting discussion threads, questions, polls, and debates.
    • Identify relevant topics across news, entertainment, lifestyle, technology, sports, relationships, hobbies, and other interests.
    • Encourage thoughtful exchanges of opinions and experiences.
    • Help keep discussions interesting, inclusive, and relevant to the community.
    1. Member Engagement
    • Welcome new members and help them feel comfortable participating.
    • Respond thoughtfully to discussions and unanswered posts.
    • Ask follow-up questions and encourage meaningful exchanges.
    • Help newcomers discover the sections and conversations that interest them.
    1. Community Retention
    • Follow up on promising conversations and identify opportunities to continue them.
    • Encourage members to participate again by creating welcoming, interesting experiences.
    • Identify what makes people return, contribute, or lose interest.
    • Suggest improvements that make GeneralGiist more useful, enjoyable, and engaging.
    1. Reporting and Improvement
    • Provide brief updates on activities and results.
    • Track useful indicators such as registrations, first contributions, discussion activity, and returning participants where measurable.
    • Share feedback, challenges, and ideas with the founder.
    • Participate in agreed growth missions and experiments.

    What We're Looking For

    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Creativity and an interest in online discussions and communities.
    • Reliability and willingness to contribute consistently.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
    • Interest in community outreach, digital engagement, content creation, or growth.
    • Willingness to learn, experiment, and share feedback.
    • Respect for different perspectives and a commitment to authentic engagement.

Previous experience in community management, social media, content creation, marketing, or online outreach is helpful but not required.

    Time Commitment

Approximately 5–10 hours per week, with flexibility depending on agreed responsibilities and availability.

Volunteers will work remotely, receive assigned missions, and provide regular progress updates. The initial commitment and ongoing expectations will be discussed and agreed upon with selected candidates.

    What You'll Gain

    • Practical experience in community building and audience growth.
    • Opportunities to develop outreach, communication, content, and engagement skills.
    • Experience contributing to an early-stage global online platform.
    • Exposure to growth experiments, community operations, and remote collaboration.
    • An opportunity to contribute ideas and help shape the early GeneralGiist community.

Applicants should consider their availability and personal circumstances before committing.

    How to Apply

Apply through Idealist and tell us why you want to help grow GeneralGiist, what skills or experience you can contribute, and how you would help make an online discussion community active and welcoming.

Applicants from different countries and backgrounds are welcome. We are particularly interested in people who take initiative, enjoy engaging with others, and want to help build something from its early stages.

Help us make GeneralGiist a place people want to visit, stay, connect, be heard, and have fun.
