Fundraising & Development Volunteer — Huntsville, AL

Invisible Warriors is a grassroots movement built by and for women veterans. We bring women who've served together for community, connection, and the kind of camaraderie that only other veterans understand — and we channel that energy into programs, advocacy, and awareness for women veterans across Alabama. We're veterans first, and we look out for our own.

    The Opportunity

We're looking for a Fundraising & Development Volunteer in the Huntsville area to help build the donor base and revenue streams that keep our programs running. This isn't just about pulling off events — it's about creating the steady, reliable support that lets us show up for women veterans year-round.

The right person sees fundraising as relationship-building. You know that a $25-a-month recurring donor is worth more than a one-time check, that a local business sponsor becomes a long-term partner when you treat them right, and that a great event is a tool for building a community of supporters — not the whole strategy.

    What You'll Do

    Build recurring support

    • Help launch and grow a monthly giving program — the backbone of sustainable funding.
    • Develop simple, compelling donor communications (appeals, updates, thank-yous) that make supporters feel like part of the mission.
    • Track donors and steward relationships so first-time givers become long-term partners.

    Cultivate sponsors and partners

    • Identify and engage Huntsville-area businesses for sponsorships, workplace giving, and in-kind support.
    • Build a roster of community partners who back IW programs — not just one-off events.
    • Pitch, follow up, and close. You're comfortable making the ask.

Plan events that build the base

    • Coordinate a mix of community gatherings and fundraising events that grow our supporter network.
    • Handle logistics: venues, materials, volunteer coordination, day-of execution.
    • Use events strategically — every event should leave us with new donors, sponsors, or partners.

    Help shape the strategy

    • Work with IW leadership to set fundraising goals tied to specific programs.
    • Bring ideas. We're a small team, and good thinking is welcome.

    Who We're Looking For

    • Fundraising, development, or nonprofit experience is a real plus — but if you've got transferable skills (sales, marketing, account management, community organizing), we want to talk.
    • Strong communicator and natural connector. You're not afraid to ask, follow up, or build a relationship from a cold start.
    • Organized and detail-oriented. Donors and sponsors notice when you remember their names and when you don't.
    • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, tight-knit team.
    • Based in or near Huntsville, AL.

    The Commitment

    • 5–10 hours per week, flexing up around campaigns and events.
    • Hybrid: most work is remote; in-person presence needed for events and select partner meetings.
    • 6-month minimum commitment preferred — donor relationships compound over time, and we want someone who can see that work pay off.

What You Get Out of It

    • Real impact on a community of women veterans in your own backyard.
    • Hands-on experience across the full fundraising stack — recurring giving, sponsorships, events, donor stewardship — that translates anywhere in the nonprofit world.
    • A network of local business owners, community leaders, and a mission-driven team who'll have your back.
    • Flexibility that works around your life.
    • A role worth putting on your résumé and meaning it.

    Why This Work Matters

Programs cost money. The community we're building, the advocacy work, the events that bring women veterans together — all of it runs on the support of people who believe in what we're doing. Your work directly funds the programs that strengthen women veterans across Alabama. Not someday. Now.
