Do you cherish older adults and the rich stories they carry? Do you have a heart for helping others and a desire to give back to your community? If so, volunteering with the Aging Strong program may be the perfect fit for you.
Behind many front doors in the Treasure Valley are stories like these: a daughter juggling her father’s medical appointments while working full-time; a wife providing round-the-clock care for her husband living with Parkinson’s disease; a husband tenderly caring for his wife, even though she no longer remembers his name. These stories are not rare. More than 40,000 family caregivers—our friends, neighbors, and fellow community members—provide constant care for loved ones, often without a single break.
Aging Strong exists to change that.
Our volunteers are thoughtfully matched with a nearby family (a military connected family) to provide 2–4 hours of weekly companionship. This time allows family caregivers a much-needed pause, knowing their loved one is safe and supported. Volunteers do not provide personal care—just conversation, presence, and kindness.
If you enjoy listening to life stories, offering encouragement, and sharing your time and smile, there are many ways for you to shine with Aging Strong. And if you know someone who might be a great fit, please pass this opportunity along.
