Reception volunteer needed in Escondido

Volunteer Job Description

Purpose/Goal of Position: Support The Salvation Army in providing services to the community by greeting clients at the door.

Qualifications/Skills/Certifications Needed:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Friendly, welcoming demeanor and professional appearance
• Active listening abilities
• Basic problem-solving skills
• Patience and empathy, especially when working with diverse populations

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Greet clients at the front door

2. Assess what it is they need, answer questions and potentially provide them with resources that they require.

3. Might be asked to put together to go meals from the pantry for un-housed clients.

4. Special projects as assigned.

5. This position is in an office setting, great fit for someone who likes to be moving around and working on multiple projects at the same time.

Ongoing Position:

Length (months): Ongoing

Schedule: weekdays from 9:30 am to Noon and/or 1pm to 3pm. We do ask that volunteers commit to one day of the week for a minimum of three months.
