Join disABILITYsa at the McNay for Family Day! We will be on location with our Sensory Room, Mobile Changing Unit, and more!

Event: 1:00–4:00 PM

Volunteer shift: Noon–5:00 PM

We’re looking for 10 volunteers! The volunteer shift includes time before and after the event to help prepare and pack up assigned areas.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Mobile Changing Unit Attendants — 2 volunteers

Noon–5:00 PM

Welcome guests, provide information about the unit, and help keep supplies organized and the space ready for use. Respect guests’ privacy and notify disABILITYsa staff when assistance is needed. This role does not include hands-on personal care or transfers. A criminal background check and role-specific training are required.

Sensory Room Attendants — 2 volunteers

Noon–5:00 PM

Help maintain a calm, welcoming space where guests can take a break from event activities. Greet visitors, organize sensory materials, and support a quiet environment. A criminal background check and role-specific training are required.

Sensory Activity Station Attendants — 6 volunteers

Noon–5:00 PM

Guide guests through sensory activities, explain how to participate, and offer assistance as needed. Help organize supplies and reset stations so each family has a welcoming experience.
