The Global Consortium of Political Analysts (GCPA) is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to providing rigorous, objective analysis of international politics, emerging and protracted conflicts, humanitarian crises, and governance issues. We bring together a global network of experts to deliver analysis and insights that policymakers, academics, and the general public can trust.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Volunteer Affinity Publication Design Assistant to support the development and layout of GCPA's print and web-based publications. This individual will work closely with the editorial and communications teams to produce visually compelling, professionally formatted content that reflects GCPA's mission and brand standards. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently in a remote environment, and can provide quality work on time with little oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and format layout elements for GCPA's print magazine and web-based publications, including headers, graphics, infographics, and page templates.
- Create and refine artwork, illustrations, and visual assets consistent with GCPA's brand identity.
- Collaborate with editors and writers to ensure visual elements complement written content.
- Prepare publication files for both digital distribution and print production.
- Assist in maintaining a library of design assets, templates, and style guidelines.
- Provide input on layout improvements and visual storytelling strategies.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience using Affinity Publisher, Affinity Designer, or similar desktop publishing and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator).
- Strong eye for layout, typography, and visual design.
- Ability to work independently and meet editorial deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Background or interest in political analysis, journalism, or international affairs is a plus.
- Portfolio of relevant design or publication work preferred.
Time Commitment
6–8 hours per week, flexible scheduling.
