Organization Overview:

Mommy's Heart, Inc. (EIN #87-4833078) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free legal, mental health, and advocacy services to parents and children who have escaped domestic abuse and face retaliatory litigation by their abusers in court. Due to systemic failures and lack of equal access to justice, abusers are often able to exploit the family court system against their victims, resulting in 58,000 children each year being court-ordered into unsupervised contact, including sole custody arrangements, with an abusive parent. Every six days, a child dies due to family court failures.

Mommy’s Heart aims to protect and defend the fundamental rights of all fit parents to direct the care and custody of their children, so that no parent has to fear losing a child for reporting abuse. We are dedicated to empowering survivors with equal access to justice, healing, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives — including through economic empowerment, advocacy, and education — so they can achieve long-term safety and independence.

Position Title: Promotional/Testimonial Video Editor (Volunteer)

Duration: Project-based (flexible, approximately 5–15 hours total)

Volunteer Opportunity Description:

Are you a creative storyteller passionate about using media to make a difference? Mommy’s Heart is seeking a Volunteer Video Editor to help produce a short inspirational video that highlights our mission, showcases real survivor impact, and motivates donors and supporters to take action. This video will serve as a key storytelling tool to share the urgent need for support and the positive change our organization creates in the lives of abuse survivors and their children.

This is a meaningful opportunity to use your media and editing skills to help raise awareness, inspire compassion, and strengthen funding for critical advocacy and support programs.

Responsibilities:

As a Volunteer Video Editor, you will:

• Edit video clips, interviews, and testimonials into a cohesive, emotionally engaging short film (5-7 minutes).
• Incorporate background music, transitions, and captions to enhance the emotional tone and clarity of the message.
• Collaborate with team members to translate our mission and values into a compelling visual narrative.
• Ensure the pacing, tone, and branding align with nonprofit messaging and donor engagement goals.
• Provide creative input on structure, flow, and storytelling elements to maximize viewer impact.
• Optimize the final video for sharing across digital fundraising platforms, social media, and our website.

Qualifications:

• Proficient in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent).
• Strong sense of visual storytelling, pacing, and emotional tone.
• Experience (professional) creating promotional, nonprofit, or testimonial videos preferred.
• Ability to incorporate subtitles, graphics, and simple effects to ensure accessibility and impact.
• Collaborative spirit with openness to feedback and alignment with mission-driven messaging.
• Sensitivity in working with survivor stories and a commitment to trauma-informed representation.
• Reliable communication and time management skills.
