Spanish-Speaking Volunteer Facilitator Needed – Norfolk Prison Fathers Program

Parents Helping Parents (PHP) is seeking a compassionate and reliable Spanish-speaking volunteer facilitator to support our fathers' group at Norfolk Prison in Massachusetts.

Many of the fathers who participate in our program are committed to strengthening their relationships with their children and families. However, language barriers can make it difficult for some Spanish-speaking participants to fully engage in group discussions and benefit from the support and resources available to them.

We are looking for a volunteer who is fluent in both Spanish and English and is interested in helping bridge that gap by providing interpretation and facilitating communication during group meetings.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with translation between English and Spanish during group sessions.
    • Help Spanish-speaking participants fully engage in discussions and activities.
    • Support a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive group environment.
    • Collaborate with experienced facilitators from Parents Helping Parents.

    Qualifications

    • Fluency in both Spanish and English.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
    • Commitment to treating all participants with dignity and respect.
    • Experience in facilitation, social services, counseling, education, or community support is helpful but not required.

    About the Program

Parents Helping Parents facilitates support groups for incarcerated fathers focused on parenting, family relationships, communication, personal growth, and successful family reunification. These groups provide participants with an opportunity to learn, connect, and strengthen their roles as parents despite the challenges of incarceration.

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately 1-2 hours per session, including facility entry procedures.
    • Schedule to be discussed with interested volunteers.
    • Training and orientation provided.

    Why Volunteer?

By helping Spanish-speaking fathers fully participate in the program, you can make a meaningful difference in their ability to connect with their children, strengthen family bonds, and prepare for a successful future.

If you are passionate about supporting families, promoting inclusion, and making a positive impact, we would love to hear from you.
