    About The Oazi Project

The Oazi Project organizes volunteer trainings on responsible volunteering, while running a traineeship program where Tanzanian women design and lead these experiences. By building on local perspectives, the trainings help international volunteers better understand the context they enter, question their assumptions, and engage more thoughtfully. In this way, Oazi supports respectful collaboration, genuine connection, and more meaningful contributions between volunteers and communities.

    What will you actually do?

We are looking for someone to build meaningful connections and turn reflections into data-driven insights.

    Community Engagement:

    • Networking with integrity: Develop a thoughtful community engagement strategy for The Oazi Project by identifying how we build respectful relationships with volunteers and local partners in Arusha, based on trust, consistency, and genuine connection.
    • Onboarding & introduction: Design and build an “Internal welcome package” for new Oazi volunteers so they understand our values, expectations, and how to engage respectfully from day one.
    • Reflective storytelling: Share honest experiences from workshops and activities and help introduce interested volunteers to upcoming trainings.
    • Weekly insights: Create a weekly reflection post for social media and provide feedback to The Oazi team on common questions, hesitations, or themes emerging within the volunteer community.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, & Learning (MEL):

    • Impact tracking: Collect structured volunteer reflections and feedback, tracking attendance and participation so we can better understand the impact of our programs.
    • Trend analysis: Identify patterns in volunteer experiences and summarize what is working well and what needs improvement.
    • Workshop evaluation: Support simple pre- and post-workshop comparisons to evaluate how participant mindsets are shifting.
    • Continuous learning: Organize follow-up sessions to ensure the impact of our training lasts long after the workshop ends.

    Desired Profile

We are looking for someone who aligns with our vision and sees this role as a journey of personal and professional growth.

    A person with:

    • A mission-driven heart: You want to help us and others build a world where everyone feels seen and valued.
    • A collaborative attitude: You are a team player who naturally celebrates successes, shares opportunities, and supports the growth of others.
    • Respect for local leadership: You are mindful of the expertise of our Tanzanian team and respect the local cultural context.
    • A growth mindset: You see this volunteer period as a chance to learn from Tanzanian culture, from your colleagues, and from your own mistakes.
    • Self-awareness: You are open to pausing and thinking about your impact.
    • Educational background: You are preferably in your 3rd year of a bachelor’s degree or higher. Relevant fields include Marketing, Human Resources (HR), Social Sciences, Psychology, International Development, Education or Cultural Studies. Exceptions can be made.

    What do we offer?

    • Learning Outcomes: Gain deep insights into community outreach, "networking with respect," systems thinking, MEL basics, and data storytelling.
    • Hands-on experience: Take your academic knowledge, apply it in practice, and gain experience in an international context.
    • Guidance: Support from an experienced team and a clear learning path for your own development.
    • Community: The opportunity to join a warm, supportive team and explore a new and exciting culture.
    • Impact: Help shift the narrative of volunteering toward one of genuine connection and mutual learning.

    Practical information:

    • Location: Arusha, Tanzania.
    • Duration: We are looking for a commitment of 2 to 3 months (or longer). Shorter stays can be discussed on an individual basis.
    • Accommodation: Can be provided.
    • What we expect from you? We ask for professional commitment to the tasks you take on and ensuring that your assigned projects are completed to a high standard.

Note: This is a voluntary position. We do not provide an expense allowance or financial compensation.
