Volunteers are the heart of our hospice. They provide practical and emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers may visit patients weekly or as needed basis from 1-4 hours at a time and are matched to patients considering proximity and scheduling preferences. Patient care volunteers frequently express what a privilege it is to walk with a family during this special time and how personally rewarding they have found it to be. Our volunteer training provides information about the many aspects of the dying process and the various ways to assist the dying through their end of life journey. Many of our graduates find the training itself a transforming experience. There is no obligation to volunteer upon completion of the training.
