Call for Core Team Volunteers: Join the Global Writers Project LBG as a Social Media Manager

The Global Writers Project (GWP) is inviting applications for the role of Social Media Manager to join our Core Team of creative volunteers.

GWP is a registered non-profit literary organization dedicated to amplifying African voices for global change through storytelling, writing, and advocacy. We create platforms for writers and creatives to express themselves, build literacy, and inspire impact across communities.

About the Role

As Social Media Manager, you will take the lead in shaping GWP’s digital presence and engagement. You will manage our social media platforms, design content in line with our brand guide, and collaborate with the Graphic Designer, and Programs Coordinator to share impactful stories and updates.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and schedule creative content for GWP’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
• Manage daily engagement — respond to comments, DMs, and community messages.
• Collaborate with the Graphic Designer to maintain consistent visual identity and brand tone.
• Support campaigns for GWP programs, publications, and advocacy initiatives.
• Monitor analytics and generate monthly insights to inform engagement strategy.

Commitment

Duration: 6-Month Volunteer Term

Type: Remote (with flexible hours and team coordination)

Compensation: Volunteer role — eligible for reimbursement of approved work-related expenses (data, transportation, etc.) based on performance.

Who We’re Looking For

• Passionate about storytelling, writing, and social impact.
• Skilled in managing social media pages (Meta Business Suite experience is a plus).
• Basic graphic design or Canva skills preferred.
• Strong written communication and teamwork abilities.
• Self-motivated, organized, and ready to represent the GWP brand voice online.
