    Volunteer Coordinator – Volunteer Role

    About Us

Not Defined By FND is a newly founded nonprofit (est. April 2024) dedicated to ending stigma, raising awareness, advocating for research and treatments, and fostering conversations to bring necessary change and hope for all individuals affected by Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, we empower those impacted by FND and work to ensure a more informed and supportive society.

We are a small team made up of passionate volunteers — and that’s where you come in. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, helping us grow, reach more people, and make a real difference in the FND community.

    Role Overview

The Volunteer Coordinator is a key volunteer position responsible for welcoming, organizing, and supporting the volunteers who make our work possible. You will be the first point of contact for new and existing volunteers, ensuring that everyone has the information, tools, and guidance they need to contribute effectively. This is a flexible volunteer role with the opportunity to help shape our growing organization and have a meaningful impact on the FND community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and orientation
    • Ensure all volunteer agreements, NDAs/confidentiality agreements, and related documentation are up to date and properly filed
    • Maintain volunteer records, schedules, and contact information
    • Assign volunteers to appropriate projects based on interests, skills, and availability
    • Support volunteers with resources, training materials, and guidance
    • Monitor volunteer engagement and provide recognition for contributions
    • Help troubleshoot issues or challenges volunteers may face
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other team members to plan volunteer needs for events, programs, and campaigns
    • Maintain clear communication through Microsoft Teams and email, ensuring volunteers know their tasks and deadlines
    • Track volunteer data and assignments using spreadsheets and other tools, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
    • Assist in documenting volunteer processes to support growth and scalability

    Expectations

    • Commitment to the mission and values of Not Defined By FND
    • Availability of ~5–8 hours per week (flexible, with some spikes around events or campaigns)
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, and spreadsheets (training provided if needed)
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and volunteers simultaneously
    • Enthusiasm for working with a small, growing team of volunteers
