    Organization: A Free Bird | 501(c)(3) Nonprofit

    Location: Remote

    Employment Type: Unpaid, Volunteer role.

    Commitment: 5–10 Hours Per Week | Minimum 3-Month Commitment

    About A Free Bird

    A Free Bird is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children and teens diagnosed with cancer through the healing power of the arts. Through programs in art, music, writing, acting, and more, we help children build confidence, resilience, and hope throughout their journey.

    Position Overview

    A Free Bird is seeking a highly organized and dependable Executive Assistant to support organizational leadership with administrative, communication, and coordination tasks. This role is ideal for individuals interested in nonprofit operations, administration, project coordination, or executive support.

    The Executive Assistant will work directly with leadership to help keep projects organized, meetings coordinated, communications managed, and day-to-day operations running smoothly.

    Key Responsibilities

    Administrative Support

    • Assist with scheduling meetings, appointments, and calendar management
    • Coordinate meeting agendas, notes, and follow-up tasks
    • Organize documents, spreadsheets, and shared files
    • Maintain accurate records and administrative documentation

    Communication & Coordination

    • Draft and send emails on behalf of leadership when needed
    • Assist with internal communications and team updates
    • Coordinate with volunteers, departments, and external partners
    • Help ensure projects and deadlines stay on track

    Organization & Operations

    • Track assignments, action items, and project progress
    • Support workflow management and process organization
    • Conduct basic research and compile information for leadership
    • Assist with special projects and administrative initiatives as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 1–2+ years of experience in administration, executive support, office coordination, customer service, project coordination, nonprofit operations, or a related field
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
    • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
    • Detail-oriented and dependable
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous experience supporting leadership, managers, or teams
    • Experience in nonprofit, education, healthcare, or community organizations
    • Experience with scheduling, documentation, or project coordination

    Commitment Expectations:

    To help our teams collaborate effectively, all volunteers are expected to:

    • Commit at least 3 months
    • Contribute approximately 5-10 hours per week
    • Attend our 30-minute virtual team meetings every Tuesday and Thursday
    • Communicate proactively and work collaboratively with fellow volunteers

    We're looking for individuals who are excited to grow with the team and can consistently participate in our weekly meetings.
