Purpose of tour guide position:
Help visitors understand and appreciate the uniqueness of The Mill at Anselma, a National Historic Landmark, by guiding them through the site and promoting an enriching experience.
Tour Guides recieve traning classes, shadowing opportunities and a binder of detail information as reference for home study as well as a set of pocket cards with historic details. Detail information about The Mill is found at Anselmamill.org and Mill at Anselma - CatalogIt HUB .
While most tours are weekend events there are school tours during the week and they are considered the most fun.
Tour shifts are typically 3 hours.
All guides are required to undergo background checks and clearances as we deal with children.

Primary Responsibilities and Requirements of a Mill at Anselma tour guide:
- Be organized, prepared, friendly, punctual, approachable and patient.
- Training is required through an assigned mentor and to also shadow an experienced tour guide. Must be able to use online sources for training and for signing up to volunteer at the Mill.
- Prepare to interpret the Mill from 1747 - present, highlighting various owner families of the Mill, technology and history. Tours can include The Mill, Miller’s House, Post Office, Springhouse and grounds/waterways/trails
- Give tours on site to groups when mill is open and give a positive experience to visitors. Be prepared to give tours to all age groups, including school groups, area clubs and special events - these may happen during the week and/or evenings. Tour guides agree to wear a shirt with the Mill logo and Mill name tag when giving tours.
- Agree to attend Mill Volunteer Meetings.

- Saturdays: 10:00 to 13:00 EST
- Sundays: 13:00 to 16:00 EST
- Saturdays: 13:00 to 16:00 EST
