Shelter Heroes

The American Red Cross of the North Carolina Region has an urgent need for volunteers! In the face of more frequent and intense natural disasters, we are facing continuous, often overlapping, disaster responses. We saw firsthand the large-scale sheltering needs during Helene, and that's why we’re inviting compassionate community members to join our shelter heroes team.

Shelter heroes will support large disasters like hurricanes, severe storms and wildfires. Local volunteers will be trained to support emergency shelters and other basics in their communities and help bolster our existing nationwide volunteer network.
