Program Summary: 2Life is looking for a volunteer to teach a series of Salsa, line dancing and hiphop classes for residents at the Brighton Campus! For older adults, exercise is an essential activity that has a profound impact on the quality of their life, and dance offers a fun and energetic way to improve cardiovascular health, promoting strength and flexibility. The goal is to improve aerobic capacity, flexibility, and muscle strength. For frail residents, there should be a modified version of the dances that allows for seated participants whenever possible.
Impact Goal: Physical activity is one of the most important things 2Life residents can do for their health. It helps improve strength and balance to keep doing your day-to-day activities, and prevents or delays diseases. For many, fitness activities and health workshops are also opportunities to reduce social isolation, dancing is an excellent opportunity to strengthen these skills and combat social Isolation.
