CDD, in partnership with Befriending Networks, offers a meaningful volunteer opportunity focused on building one-on-one connections with individuals who have disabilities. As a Befriender, you’ll be thoughtfully matched with someone we support based on shared interests and location, creating opportunities for genuine friendship and social connection.
Befrienders stay in touch with their match through regular in-person visits and other forms of communication, such as phone calls, emails, or letters. Activities are flexible and chosen together, allowing both individuals to share experiences that are enjoyable and meaningful. Research shows that befriending relationships can enhance mental well-being, social skills, and communication for everyone involved.
Volunteers take part in an orientation, background check, and required trainings. A short matchmaking survey helps ensure the best possible pairing based on interests and preferences.
Join us in making a positive difference through friendship and connection.
