Volunteer Opportunity: Creative & Conversational Companion (In‑Person)

(Adult Family Home setting)

We are seeking a patient, open‑minded, and creative volunteer to provide in‑person companionship to an older adult living in Federal Way. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys conversation, creativity, and expressive activities.

About the Participant

• Alert and oriented, able to express needs clearly
• Very talkative and expressive, with a tendency to share long stories and life experiences
• Uses verbal expression and sensory tools for self‑regulation
• Enjoys:
  • Beach balls and playful interaction
  • Painting shirts and creative projects
  • Talking about past life experiences and personal stories
  • Open‑ended conversation on many topics

Volunteer Role

• Provide in‑person companionship
• Engage in conversation at the participant’s pace
• Participate in creative or expressive activities (art, conversation, shared interests)
• Offer a calm, accepting, and patient presence
• Help support positive social connection and emotional well‑being

Volunteer Preferences

• Comfortable with talkative and expressive communication styles
• Patient, kind, and flexible
• Enjoys creativity, storytelling, or art‑based activities
• No gender preference
• Flexible scheduling (weekly or bi‑weekly visits welcomed)
