We are seeking professionals or retirees from a variety of industries and experiences to facilitate professional development workshops for our Project SEARCH interns. Project SEARCH is a one-year school-to-work transition program designed for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are either in their last year of high school or are recent graduate. Through this program, young adults develop the tools necessary for employment, and skills needed for self determination, management and self advocacy.
Workshop topics can be open to whatever volunteers have interest in discussing. Previous topics have included interview skills, how to use LinkedIn, soft skills and communication skills, as well as conflict resolution and self-advocacy. We have also had volunteers discuss what industry and roles they have experience in, and what they have learned in their careers.
