GET TESTED GRAB A BAG (GTGB) A National HIV Testing Day Community Activation Hosted by Women’s Health & Evolutionary Wellness (W.H.E.W.)

    Event Overview

Get Tested Grab a Bag (GTGB) is a community-driven HIV testing and prevention event designed to make testing accessible, supportive, and stigma-free.

Participants who receive HIV testing or prevention education receive a care bag filled with hygiene items, prevention tools, and health information, along with a prepared meal, while connecting with local organizations providing health, housing, and social support services.

The event also integrates voter registration and civic education, recognizing that public health and policy decisions directly impact community health outcomes.

    Why This Matters

Despite decades of prevention work, Black communities—particularly Black women—continue to experience disproportionate HIV vulnerability while facing barriers to testing, prevention resources, and healthcare access.

GTGB addresses these barriers by combining:

    • Free HIV testing

    • Prevention education (PrEP, DoxyPEP, condoms)

    • Community resource navigation

    • Food and hygiene support

    • Civic engagement opportunities
