Tools of Expression, also known as TOE, is a peer support group for children ages 4-18 who have experienced a loss or change such as death, divorce, separation, incarceration, deployment, and foster care. Through the use of the creative arts, TOE classes focus on peer support and the expression of feelings. TOE classes rotate monthly. One month may focus on music, while another focuses on drama, photography, journaling, or other creative expressive tools.
TOE classes are held on Monday nights at 6PM from April-August.
Volunteers are needed from 6-7PM. All volunteers must attend volunteer training and submit to background checks.
Volunteer Training will be held from 10 AM - 1 PM on the following dates:
January 31st
March 21st
May 23rd
June 20th
August 22nd
If you are unable to attend any of these trainings but would still like to volunteer, please contact us to schedule an alternate training time.
Rays of Hope Children’s Grief Centre is a community outreach of Hospice of Midland. We serve children 4 years to 18 years who have experienced a loss due to death, divorce, separation, incarceration, deployment, foster care, or other painful transition. Through facilitated peer support groups, children share experiences, use creative arts as tools of expression, and acquire coping skills to work through the tough issues that accompany grief. Because we are an outreach of Hospice of Midland, services are provided at no charge to participants.
