Waves of Gray - 5K; Brain Cancer/Tumor Awareness Walk

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the 2025 Waves of Gray - 5K.

Below is all the information you should need.

Half-Way Water Station High Priority

May 10, 2025; 8:00 am - 10:00 to 11:00 am

Must have a car to transport a table, chairs and water to the 1/2 way location on the beach (Corner of Hopkins St. & Strand St. - Parking available at First Christian Church of the Beaches).

Setup water station, await participants arrival, hand out water to participants, CHEER on participants, breakdown water station after the last participant has passed by.

Unloading Equipment and Supplies from Vehicles High Priority

May 10, 2025; 5:30 am - 8:00 am

Be able to lift heavy items and carry them to be set up. Help setup!

Event Day Setup High Priority

May 10, 2025; 5:45 am - 8:00 am

Arrive at 6:00 am to assist with event day setup.

Photo Booth Medium Priority

May 10, 2025; 7:00 am - 11:00 am

We will have an area setup for photo ops. Volunteers will assist participants with the photo frames, props and with taking photos for them.

Medal Handout High Priority

May 10, 2025; 8:00 am - 11:00 am

You will stand at the start/finish line and hand out medals to each participant (WITH A WALK BIB ONLY). You will also be expected to CHEER ON ALL PARTICIPANTS as they are approaching and crossing the finish line! You will also make sure finishers are receiving a bottle of water.

Last Walker/Flag Carrier High Priority

May 10, 2025; 7:00 am - 10:00 am

This task requires you to carry a lightweight flag. You will be required to walk the entire course as the last participant to cross the finish line. This will indicate the walk is now complete. It is very important you do not allow any participants to be behind you.

Photographer High Priority

May 10, 2025; 6:00 am - 11:30 am

Be willing to take photos at the start area while setting up. Be willing to walk part/the whole way to take photos along the route and halfway water station.

Tend a Booth (While Committee Members Walk) Medium Priority

May 10, 2025; 7:30 am - 10:00 am

Several of the committee members are also registered participants and will walk the event with their families & friends. We need volunteers to work their booths while they walk.
