Our FRIENDLY CALLER program is done from your home. Training is a 1 hour in person training at our office location in Jacksonville Beach.
The purpose of our Volunteer Friendly Callers is to assure those who ride our transportatoin vans called DIAL_A_RIDE, are well and their needs are being met. Our DIAL-A-RIDE senior passengers receive a supportive, friendly telephone call from you. These clients may be isolated or lonely.
Friendly callers will receive a list of names of the seniors and disabled adults who ride with our program DIAL A RIDE. These are adults in the Mayport, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach area that can no longer drive. The Friendly Caller will contact the rider to let them know we are doing wellness checks to make sure they are doing fine and if they have any needs besides transportation.
If so, we have an information coordinator that will direct our riders to a service that can fill their needs. The Friendly Caller is the connection to services. It's a way to let our seniors know we care about them. The time you spend with the caller is an agreed upon day and frequency. You may spend 10 to 15 minutes a week or a month, catching up, and spending a bit of quality time with someone who needs to hear a friendly voice.
