Board Member — Fundraising and Development - Shared-Equity Senior Housing Nonprofit

Boomers Collaborative Foundation seeks a volunteer Board member who would like to use their institutional fundraising or relationship-building experience to help advance an innovative and urgently needed approach to affordable senior housing.

We are an Austin-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to create mixed-use, limited-equity cooperative housing where older adults can age together with greater affordability, stability, and connection. With our market study completed and funded community outreach underway, this is a meaningful time to join our Board and help move the work forward.

Our Fundraising and Development Board member will focus on building relationships with prospective institutional and individual supporters and working with our social media support volunteer to monitor our year-round Friends of Boomers Collaborative fundraising program.

How you can help ...

• Identify possible new institutional supporters and bring them to the President for review
• Help initiate and develop relationships with prospective institutional and individual supporters
• Meet with foundation representatives or individual supporters to encourage their support
• Work with our social media support volunteer to monitor Friends of Boomers Collaborative
• Share progress and recommendations with the President and Board
• Participate in Board discussions and decisions as a voting director

• Institutional fundraising, donor relations, institutional outreach, nonprofit development, or community partnerships
• Initiating outreach and cultivating relationships with prospective supporters
• Meeting with prospective supporters and communicating an organization’s mission clearly
• Organizing information and following work through to completion
• Serving on a nonprofit Board or working with a small mission-driven organization
• Prior Board experience is helpful but not required. We welcome inquiries from people who care about affordable housing, aging, cooperatives, social enterprise, community development, or economic security and whose experience may not match every item listed above.
