    AI Prompt Engineer and Evaluator (Intern)

    Department: Data Analytics and Technology

    Reports to: Technology and Systems Director

    Position Summary

    The AI Prompt Engineer and Evaluator Intern will help design, test, evaluate, and improve artificial intelligence systems that support TGCN's programs, operations, advocacy efforts, educational initiatives, and the GrAngel World™ platform.

    This position combines creativity, research, analytical thinking, technical curiosity, and excellent communication skills. Interns will learn how to work with large language models (LLMs), knowledge management systems, automation tools, AI agents, and emerging technologies while contributing to real-world projects that create measurable social impact.

    Interns will work closely with leadership, technology teams, advocates, educators, researchers, and content creators to build AI solutions that are safe, accurate, ethical, and effective.

    Internship Start Date and Duration

    • Start Date: September 15th, 2026
    • Duration: 6–12 months (depending on program track and performance)
    • Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must have already completed a Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) or be in the final stages of completing their degree prior to the internship start date.
    • Commitment: This is a structured professional internship designed for post-baccalaureate or graduating students seeking applied experience in AI systems, prompt engineering, and technology for social impact.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Prompt Development

    • Design and test prompts for AI systems.
    • Create role-based prompts for advocates, grant writers, volunteers, educators, and caregivers.
    • Improve prompt quality, accuracy, consistency, and performance.
    • Develop reusable prompt libraries and templates.
    • Document best practices and lessons learned.

    AI Evaluation and Quality Assurance

    • Test AI-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, safety, and relevance.
    • Identify hallucinations, biases, inconsistencies, and errors.
    • Measure the effectiveness of prompts and workflows.
    • Create scorecards and evaluation frameworks.
    • Generate reports and recommendations for improvement.

    Research and Analysis

    • Research new AI tools, technologies, and trends.
    • Analyze industry best practices.
    • Evaluate emerging applications of artificial intelligence in nonprofit organizations.
    • Explore opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.

    Knowledge Management

    • Organize datasets, documents, procedures, and research materials.
    • Assist with knowledge graph development.
    • Help create and maintain AI training resources.
    • Support the development of AI-powered assistants and chatbots.

    Collaboration

    • Participate in planning meetings and innovation sessions.
    • Work with multiple departments to understand operational needs.
    • Support special projects related to education, advocacy, communications, fundraising, and technology.

    • Experience with ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity, or similar tools is preferred.
    • Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and productivity software is helpful.
