Reading Tutors in Crofton and Severn Elementary Schools

STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School first and second grade students reading below grade level. Tutors work one-on-one with a student for an hour-long session, and we offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis. STAIR-Annapolis has a site at Four Season Elementary and Waugh Chapel Elementary in Crofton/Gambrills, Severn Elementary, and at the Severn Community Center-serving students from Van Bokkelen Elementary. Our program runs from early October to early May. We offer a comprehensive introduction and training for all new volunteers.

This will be an overview of the STAIR program. We will continue to schedule Information sessions throughout the summer for all interested volunteers, and will begin to schedule the required 2 hour curriculum trainings in late summer.
