Job Summary: The director of sales at an HR consulting firm is a senior-level executive responsible for leading the sales department to achieve revenue goals. This leadership position develops sales strategies and manages a team of sales managers and representatives, with a focus on growing the firm's client base of businesses that need human resources solutions.
Strategic planning and business development
Create strategic sales plans: Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets and expand the firm's market share.
Drive new business: Identify new business opportunities and new clients through networking, prospecting, and organic growth.
Manage key client relationships: Nurture relationships with high-value clients and stakeholders, often taking a hands-on role in closing the largest or most complex deals.
Expand offerings: Partner with other departments to identify opportunities for cross-selling additional HR products and services to existing clients.
Sales management and leadership
Lead the sales team: Recruit, hire, train, and manage a team of sales managers and representatives to drive performance and achieve sales targets.
Set quotas and goals: Establish sales quotas, KPIs, and performance metrics, and track progress against them.
Provide coaching and training: Guide the sales team through mentoring and training programs to improve their skills and help them reach their potential.
Conduct performance reviews: Perform regular reviews to evaluate and provide feedback on team and individual performance.
Sales operations and analysis
Develop sales processes: Design and refine the sales process from lead generation to close, including pipeline management and CRM optimization.
Analyze sales data: Use data analytics to monitor sales performance, identify trends, forecast sales, and make proactive adjustments to strategy.
Manage the sales budget: Develop and oversee the annual sales budget, including expense management and resource allocation.
Report to leadership: Prepare and present regular reports and strategic updates on sales performance to senior management and other stakeholders.
