BRC is a leading housing provider that supports thousands of New Yorkers in need. Our work includes outreach to people experiencing homelessness in public spaces, along with drug treatment, mental health care, comprehensive medical services, vocational programs, and supportive communities where individuals can rebuild their lives. At the heart of BRC’s approach is trust—listening to the people we serve, responding to their needs, and helping them move toward both temporary and permanent housing.
We are currently seeking volunteer ESL tutors to work with residents at the BRC Inwood Women’s Residence. If you have experience teaching English, our residents would greatly benefit from your knowledge and your willingness to help them strengthen their language skills—support that feels especially meaningful right now.
This role typically involves one-on-one or very small group sessions, working with one or two residents at a time. At present, we are particularly looking for volunteers who can assist individuals whose primary language is Spanish, Portuguese, or French.
If you are able to commit on a regular, ongoing basis, your involvement would make a truly meaningful difference. Your guidance, patience, and encouragement can help residents build not only their English skills, but also their confidence and sense of independence.
Getting started as a volunteer is simple. The first step is to complete a New Volunteer Registration form. Just click [HERE] to fill it out.
