StandUp for Kids provides consistent street outreach and advocacy for homeless and at-risk youth. Our teams go into the streets at the same time, on the same day, and along the same routes each week in order to build trust and reliably connect with youth in need. Outreach volunteers must be able to walk for extended periods and carry supplies. All volunteers are fully trained and background-checked, and no one ever goes into the streets alone. Volunteers work in small teams that divide routes to expand outreach and reach more youth each night.
Volunteers must be compassionate and able to meet young people where they are, offering a nonjudgmental presence and a listening ear. To ensure consistency and trust with our youth, those working directly with young people are asked to commit to one year of service with a minimum of once per week participation.
