At our Lancaster pantry, families are invited inside to shop for the groceries that best fit their needs and preferences. Unlike pre-packed food distributions, this client choice model lets individuals select their own items just like at a grocery store. This approach gives families more control over their food, helps reduce waste, and ensures everyone leaves with food they’ll actually use and enjoy.
Volunteers may:
- Assist clients as they shop for groceries.
- Check in and schedule client appointments
- Restock food items and keep pantry areas organized.
- Bag produce and pantry items for distribution.
Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes required (no sandals or flip-flops). Comfortable, season-appropriate clothing recommended.
Age Requirements:
- Minimum age: 14
- Volunteers 14-17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone
The Jan Pruitt Community Pantry is located at:
123 Alexander Ave, Lancaster, TX 75146
Days & Time:
Tuesday - Saturday
Dress code:
Comfortable & casual (tennis shoes), dress for the weather

Complete the required safety forms that you will be prompted to fill out when you respond.
After finishing the forms, be sure to "Sign up for a Shift” → “Submit Opportunity Response.” This is the step that officially signs you up.
You’ll then get a confirmation email (check spam/junk).
